Preparation for Adulthood
Moving into adulthood can be more challenging for young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We want to ensure the best experience of transition to adulthood, to empower young people to become as independent, self-reliant and confident as possible.
Each year your child will be invited to an annual review meeting where we will spend time discussing their strength, needs and aspirations. This is a rewarding, exciting and inspirational meeting for your child.
In this meeting we will set four targets for the next year. These will focus on the four areas of Preparing for Adulthood:
Children and families play a key role in setting these targets which ensure they are possible, positive and appropriate for that individual.
The Sheffield Local Offer (see below) is a resource families and young people can use as they develop all of the above skills.
