Modern World, RE
At Discovery Academy, Modern World encompasses both Religious Education, local and national communities. Within Modern World, all of our pupils learn from and about religions, other cultures and languages to understand the world around them, fostering the pupil’s curiosity about their place in the world. Modern World lessons should be assessed in other areas of the curriculum, focusing on communication.

Our RE Content of Modern World follows the Sheffield SACRE.
All pupils are encouraged to learn about the beliefs of others in addition to their own as part of the religious education national curriculum.

We observe and celebrate three religious festivals over the course of the year e.g. Diwali, Chinese New Year and Eid. |

Each Week |
A #DC quote of the week is shared during Friday celebration assemblies to offer a moment of reflection and inspiration. |

Each Day |
Each day students are encouraged to reflect on what they are grateful for and show thanks, before they eat their lunch. |
|
Class Time |
During the school day after break each class has a moment of reflection done through mindfulness. |
Parental Preference
